Helping with a

Public Liability claim

What happened?
In March 2016, our client Christina suffered a severe trip and fall accident while shopping at Bankstown Central with her husband. She was browsing a pop-up store when she tripped over a protruding clothing rack base that extended into the walkway. The fall was catastrophic— Christina landed on her head and left leg, resulting in a fractured femur.

Given her age of 85, she faced a slow and difficult recovery, requiring extensive medical treatment, rehabilitation, and daily assistance. What should have been a routine shopping trip turned into a life-changing event, severely impacting her independence and mobility.
How we helped
At Fern Lawyers, we understand that public liability injuries impact more than just physical health—it can affect financial security, emotional well-being, and overall quality of life. With this in mind, we took swift action to ensure Christina received the compensation she deserved.

Our team worked to establish liability by gathering evidence and demonstrating that the shopping centre and store owner had failed to maintain a safe environment. We also went through the process of engaging medical experts to understand the impact of her injuries both physically and psychologically.
Going forwards

Through aggressive negotiations with the insurer and responsible party, we successfully secured Christina a six-figure compensation outcome, providing financial relief for her medical care, support services and suffering.

Christina’s injuries had a profound effect on her life—she required invasive surgery, underwent 60 days of inpatient rehabilitation, and needed varying ongoing pain management treatments. Thanks to Fern Lawyers’ unwavering commitment to justice and compassionate legal approach, we ensured that she could move forward with confidence, knowing that her rights had been upheld.
